Panel: Seeking Opportunities in Times of Distress
Andy Pollock is best known for his expertise in building and leading top-performing organizations. Whether challenged to launch a start-up venture, orchestrate a complex turnaround, or lead a multinational organization through accelerated growth, he has consistently delivered strong results despite the complexity and volatility of the mortgage and investment banking industries.
Prior to joining Anchor Loans, Andy was a member of the executive enterprise team of Radian Group, Inc. and its wholly owned subsidiary, Clayton Holdings, Andy delivered unprecedented, double-digit revenue growth. Prior to that, he led the start-up of WDB Funding, another of Clayton’s JV projects, taking this start-up mortgage origination firm from business plan to nationwide market launch with an innovative portfolio of product and services offerings, setting the trajectory of long-term, sustainable growth.
Andy’s success in business turnaround is best exemplified by his tenure with Rushmore Loan Management where he was tasked with the aggressive turnaround of their latest acquisition—Icon Residential. As Co-CEO, he led a massive transformation of this company, transitioned its product focus from distressed assets to mortgage origination, and restored it to profitability in less than one year.
Much of Andy’s early career was with First Franklin and its parent companies—Merrill Lynch, National City, and Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette. During his more than 20-year executive tenure, he built a new $15B loan portfolio when the company was in its early stages of growth; then, moved on to lead a 3000+ employee nationwide organization, delivering strong gains in sales and revenue. In his last position with First Franklin, he served as President and CEO of one of the largest and most profitable nonprime mortgage banking firms in the nation. During his tenure, he led the team that grew loan origination to $30B annually.
Following the financial markets collapse in 2007-08, Andy consulted with major players in the industry— AIG, BofA, Lehman Brothers, PNC, SunTrust, Wells Fargo, and others—providing executive leadership and subject matter expertise on a host of engagements involving complex transactions and negotiations. Throughout his career, Andy has structured, negotiated, and directed 20+ mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures, and helped to guide a successful IPO. Andy resides in the San Francisco Bay area with his wife of 20 years and their 3 young adult children. His personal passions include golf, cooking, and deep sea fishing.
